Am I able to use my laptop all over Europe?
No you aren’t. Our modems works in Italy only and under the coverage of our carrier TRE (H3G).

Do I have unlimited internet usage included in the plan?
NO, you DO NOT . With this plan you have 5 gigabytes per week of internet traffic (download and upload).

What if I use more than 5GB/week?
If you use more than the 5 GB/week, you will be billed 25 euro per each extra GB or fraction thereof (e.g. if you’re using between 5.001 and 6.000 GB you’ll be extrabilled of 25 euro, from 6.001 and 7.000 additional 25 euro, and so on)

How do I track the amount of gigabites  that has been used during the week?
We have recently developed a new tracking system that will warn students, both by txt message and  email, when they are getting the 80% and the 95% of their weekly traffic.

This messaging system will be made in a near future by an automated system but up to now is done manually and  this service will be not available during weekend, so it’s anyway student responsibility to have a correct use of the internet.

What is considered to be 5 GB?
This is a huge quantity of data and includes all downloaded and uploaded data from/to the internet. Please you consider that with an allowance of 5 Gigabytes of weekly traffic you can see 30 hours of video streaming or download 350,000 emails  or browse 50,000 web pages or send 5 million messages with your messenger: it’s really a large capacity! 
 

Does the facebook and myspace program take up a lot of gigabites?
Usually this programs doesn’t make you pass the 5 GB limit but it depends on how many pics you are uploading.  The “weight” of each pic has an average of 1.7Mb with medium resolution so if you consider 4 GB to use for the facebook  (1MB reserved to other uses) you can upload/download about 2,350 pics weekly. Please remember that uploading programs as Face Book or similar can cause the 5 gigabytes/week allowance to be used up quickly!

Can I use the Skype without problems?
Yes you can, usually the use of Skype don’t make you pass the limit, unless you’re using it for hours and hours! Please avoid to use the Skype with the webcam since there aren’t statistics on the number of megabytes/hour necessary for this service and we cannot guarantee that using a webcam make you safe by passing the weekly allowance.

You say that TRE (H3G) is the carrier providing the service. What if I use another one?
There is no way to use a different Carrier from the default one. 

Is there an insurance I can subscribe to cover lost/stolen Replacement Cost Fee?
No, we don’t offer an additional insurance.

How much do I pay if my data card is lost/stolen or broken?
You will be charged 80 euro if the card is lost/stolen and the same amount if the modem is badly broken. If the modem is not working we substitute if with another one and wait for the lab report for damages. Normally there aren’t charges but cannot be sure, it depends on the damage.
